Hello dear readers!

I thought I'll have to tell between what I'm doing by all. I mean between the weekends and evenings from natural :) .

When I went looking for an internship, I simply googled all universities in New Zealand. As you click through to the engineering department and mail you the top three persons on the staff list. In other words, I got spammed with 25 people whether they had an internship for me.

Prof. Chen Xiaoqi had an assignment for me called "Design and control of a Biologically Inspired Robot". Now I'm training as a control engineer and I was looking for a job with what design aspects in it, so this job description sounded like music to the ears.
I am currently working on a wall-climbing robot:

Getting Lonely

November 13th, 2009 13 comments

Hi everyone,

Although I've been quite ziekjes course I was stubborn enough to still occasionally to enjoy life. So here the pictures and reports of my adventures last two weeks.

First we have Friday the 30th to watch a rugby match being. My first experience of rugby so it really took me by the rules had. Then we went in into the city. I knew that Gaz and Pappa Bear sat there in a backpackers and the next day she would go to Australia. So I went along just as fun to say hello. They were three ladies in a room to lie so it was quite a great atmosphere and I stayed a little longer than planned hanging. Then back to the rest of the boys. They were now tired and so David and I remained alone.
Do not worry, as again meeting new people and it was all in all a most successful evening.

The next evening was our typical Italian Italian for us to cook. Well really enjoyable course in the kitchen with good food and a guitar at the table. Also, this was also the farewell party for David who went back home.

I also have last been out with Liz. We should do something active, but unfortunately left my physical condition does not allow this so we actually drove around all day haha. The advantage is that you have a lot of views in a short time given.

Later in the week I was invited by a roommate for his farewell party. I knew him well not really but it was cooked so that's always a reason to get out of bed. He was apparently a good cook and he had a good taste for people because it was a giant evening. Again, however, meet new people who now already all gone.

Hello everyone,

We are another week or so more time for an update from the other side vd world.
Unfortunately there is rather little to say hiero. In my previous post did you read that I became quite ill during the trek and unfortunately I am still not better. Last Monday it was too expensive to me so I handkerchiefs and aspirin but equally long been at the doctor.

They managed to convince me that I was suffering from a sinus infection. So I sit I'm currently a 10-day course of antibiotics. All very annoying. Full day huge headache, poor sleep and a stuffy nose.

Unfortunately this means that I have almost 2 weeks no turd to my internship assignment since I've been able to do this only on the union can do. Gives me a good excuse in any case be allowed to nix : P

But do not worry at all. Again I will probably bounce back and then I will be nice stories with nice pictures post!

Abel Tasman Track

October 28th, 2009 15 comments

As promised, a report of our experiences at the Abel Tasman track. It all started on a beautiful Friday in October (spring so). With seven people we had decided to take Friday off to drive to Nelson. It is a journey of seven hours, so worth a day off to take. We were just an hour when we go there a hitchhiker along the side. Since I had the most free space in the car we were so kind to take her along on our journey. Way we had a lunch break in Kaikoura with Fish & Chips. As the pictures to see we were not the only one who liked it. Our Italian friend was buried under the gulls who also wanted to pick up a snack.

In the evening we arrived in Nelson. This is one of the larger towns on the South Island. Here we had dinner and we made an attempt at entertainment. Unfortunately the rest of Nelson do not intend to be on a Friday night.

The next morning we had a half hours to drive before we could start the trip. Because we are a 3-5 day hike in two days we did the first day immediately many miles ahead. And because the entire track contained a considerable variety of flora and fauna there were also many pictures haircut.

Even as we made a side trip to Cleopatra's Pool. Despite the rain saw this pool is so tempting that I could not resist jumping in : Shock: . And I must say it was a nice refresher for the rest of the tour to come through.

The last part of the track we got quite a bit of a hurry, so our American took the lead and set a solid pace. It was already dark when we finally arrived at the hut. We have the evening to a nice campfire to warm up our food. All in all it was a pretty tiring day. Remember that we run all the time to lug around a sleeping bag, 2 liters of water and spare clothes and food for three days. That's quite a burden on your shoulders and knees if you're not used.

Quick Update

By popular demand, I will briefly let you know here that I'm still enjoying myself : Smile: . Since my last weekend spectacular little more experienced. So actually had nothing to say.
Last week I bought a car to get some more out of town can. Christchurch shows a pretty dull town, without being actually own transport to get anywhere really. So get online car-hunting and a few auctions have been lost. Then I saw someone in the cafeteria who want to lose his Toyota Mark II. So an hour later and immediately called Tim had his own car. Quite a large bowl actually antisocial : Shock: . The drive on the left is not much if they have some strange traffic such as: right goes for cornering and large for small bend.
And I was there the very first wet roundabout behind the car contained a V6 and rear-wheel drive had : Eek: .

I also have the car the following Saturday into the mountains taken. Quite a nice ride. 2.5 hours long met anyone. 14km row on a dirt road. All quite beautiful.

Weekend

October 12th, 2009 25 comments

Wow, just returned from a weekend away. We have experienced everything, Snowstorm, geysers, sea lions, beach.

The intention was to spend a weekend to go hiking in the mountains. We Liz and me. So Friday afternoon we went to our rental car and drove to Hanmer Springs. This place is situated in the mountains and is known for its hot water. Along became increasingly less sunny and slowly began to snow. Mind you, we thought we had sunny weekend ahead. The last 10 miles to our hostel, we slowly made our car.

Arriving at the Hostel we were lucky. Once a month free dinner. So cozy with other backpackers eaten. Evening spent cozy by the fire and tell stories. 3 New friends made that happen on the same side going up. The next morning, together with those people went to the Spa. The baths were filled with delicious hot water from the geysers. Coincidentally I had just bought a waterproof bag for my camera, so I have some nice pictures on the spot can make. If you few hours in the spa to spend with people you will also know more about them. One was dismissed and decided to go traveling. The other had in four years, huge amounts of money and had no intention of returning to England. And the third is with us drove back to Christchurch, it was uncertain whether he got a visa to work in Australia. So he took the plane home tomorrow either will spend two years working in Australia.

Anyway, once out of the Spa, we drove to Kaikoura. A coastal town 'where the mountains measuring the sea'. Very nice there. We have taken a room together with three guests. Liz and I are later in the day still pictures being in the neighborhood and in the evening we all went out. It was a Saturday night and we were half the people in the popular pub haha. The high season is here at least not yet begun. Next morning Liz and I went for a hike. The weather in this town was very different in Hamner Springs. We both have our koppies burned at sea. It seems you so be careful. The ozone hole is apparently over New Zealand. After the hike we said goodbye to Gareth and Papa Bear and the third we took it.

First impressions

October 4th, 2009 15 comments

Hi all,

It was about time for a new message. Due to the bad weather, I unfortunately still seen little of New Zealand. Fortunately, the weather is better now really on here.

By day I'm on the union engaged in work placement. My supervisor is pleased with me, because I have my entire job completed in 3 days. But this is not quite the purpose of an internship that is supposed to last three months. Why we are still looking for a new assignment for me. Hopefully that comes soon, because this is not really so nice.

Meanwhile, I am a colleague to help with his project. He was with someone else for a week trying to design an accurate measurement setup. When I saw the design was immediately clear that it was not exactly their specialty. In two days I then suggested a different design and actually produced :) . He was certainly very happy with my design, so that's always nice of course.

Going Kiwi

September 25th, 2009 10 comments

Hello everyone,

As you have heard by now I have finally landed at the correct destination. The fly itself is me giant expected.
I flew via Düsseldorf-London-1h-24h-3h-Sydney-Christchurch. The move was somewhat problematic. At the first inspection they found a tube of gel (ok, but had in plastic bag), 2min for time on the plane. Then in the plane or ff had good nerves. Was the first time I realized that I actually stood for four months alone.
The third control, they found a large pair of scissors, but it did blunt ends so I could "to keep it (was in my case connection). And the fourth a final check I still had to surrender. Then, 15 minutes late at the gate to come to a tight schedule of my tour.
